Our story unfolds on Lothal, a planet in the Outer Rim Territories. The timeline begins in 0 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin), just after the Empire's retreat from a now ecologically ruined and resource-stripped Lothal. Newly liberated by the Spectres, an early Rebel cell featured in the animated series Star Wars Rebels, Lothal now faces an uncertain future as a 'Free World'. Although the Empire's direct control has waned, its lingering influence continues to be felt, Imperial Shadows cast upon a world in fear of its potential return.
Oh, Corellia. A world of intrepid independence, and at times vast indifference to the galaxy at large. Lady Luck herself may have wintered here, leaving a lingering yet long-lasting sense of her presence behind. A heady streak of wanderlust often draws those hailing from this world and its sector out and away, to adventure and profit, but sentiment ever calls them back. And it is not just those of Corellian ancestry that see the galaxy a little bit differently; whether Corellian, Drall, or any of that chorus of species that now call this region of space home, there is a unique thread that ties them together whether as friends or foes.

However, peace remains elusive. Many pro-Imperial corporations have not fled, their remote factories producing military hardware despite supply and security difficulties. The underworld thrives, capitalizing on a planet that had grown reliant on its illicit services. Rebel cells and agents diligently counter the Empire’s remnants, even as the Rebellion's attention remains focused on the wider war erupting throughout the galaxy. Amidst all of these competing powers, countless civilians brave the chaos, take sides, and strive for survival.
The Corellian Sector today is a focal nexus of soft Imperial power, the Emperor's will as iron-strong here as anywhere, and yet with just enough breathing space to lend a sense of self-governance to appease the strong-willed, while encouraging the rebellious. Loyalists abound, their allegiance shifted to the Empire and its ally the Corporate Sector Authority, and yet the Rebellion has found no shortage of friends here. The underworld thrives; pirates, cartels, and petty cutthroats all capitalizing on a galaxy that has grown reliant upon its illicit services. And yet, amidst all these competing powers, it is civilians that most directly brave an uncertain future.

So what is unique about our story focus? Star Wars has always been an important setting for MU* players to explore, with dozens of MUDs and MUSHes enjoyed by thousands of players over the past three decades. The vast majority of them have shared an important trait in common: vastness. Star Wars is, after all, about a Galactic War. Gameplay has, by necessity, covered that vast scale as best it could. Few Star Wars games have taken the different approach to zoom in, and stay there. Our conflict does not involve armies or fleets. It does not threaten the stability of empires. In that way it may become... more personal. Maybe even a little bit scarier. Our setting is Star Wars, but our focus is upon the many smaller moments within which sentient beings lived, loved, explored, achieved, fought, and died.

Corellia: Using Up the Galaxy's Luck

Star Wars: Imperial Shadows MUSH (IS MUSH) is a text-based online roleplaying game set within the Corellian Sector during the Rebellion era of the Star Wars universe. For an introduction to MUSH games and how they are played, please refer to our "MUSH 101" guide.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...

Current Year: 1 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin, prior to Episode IV: A New Hope). The Death Star has not yet been destroyed. The Empire is ascendant, and the black intrigue of Imperial Shadows make Corellia's future a murky, uncertain thing to foretell.
